Day Four

What did you learn today? Science opportunities are all around us, this is something I think I have forgotten. Tim really helped me develop an amazing idea for testing water as a way to enhance my POM lessons.  I still need to do some research on my own and then get back to Tim about how to execute this brain child.

What questions do you still have with regard to content, technology, and pedagogy?  content – none  technology –  I would like more information on how to make and create a wiki for collaboration purposes. pedagogy – did we do this??? This part of the institute keeps getting cut way short.

How can you apply this to your classroom practice?  I am looking forward to using the different types of probes in the classroom.

Day Three

What did you learn today? How to use the probes. I really enjoyed the outdoor experience. I love collecting data! You have to basically strip down a ppt to nothing in order to get it to fit on voicethread.  We have so very smart and intelligent people in our group. Becky’s balance is not so great :) but she was a great sport today going into the water!

What questions do you still have with regard to content, technology, and pedagogy?  content –  not sure….. I am really beginning to see how to apply some of this stuff in my classroom.  technology –  none. pedagogy – did we do this???

How can you apply this to your classroom practice?  i will collect the data in science and math will follow up with the graphs and data analysis.

Day Two

What did you learn today?  What triration is and about the ions found in water. To calibrate thermometers if there is a break in the liquid, get some dry ice and rubbing alcohol and it will force the liquid down. I really need to talk to our math department to figure out how we can use some of this stuff.

What questions do you still have with regard to content, technology, and pedagogy?  content – I would like some more on 5e learning cycle. technology – grants? pedagogy – again did we do this?

How can you apply this to your classroom practice? using the graphing calculators to collect data in addition to pen and paper collections, I think our math department could then do the slope and other mathy things with real data that is relevant to what students are thinking and doing.

Day One

I understand that saving paper is important to do, but I really would prefer to write evaluations without my name attached to it.  Blogs aren’t really my thing. I don’t like having my personal thoughts and feelings just out there for anyone to read.  I do have a classroom website where I keep parents up-to-date to what is going on in the classroom that they can subscribe to but public forums where thoughts are shared for anyone to see make me feel a bit uncomfortable.

What did you learn today?  Alot about temperature and data gathering.

What questions do you still have with reguard to content, technology, and pedogogy?  content – not sure how I could adapt this to fit the needs of 8th graders in my school.  It was interesting but I would rather have worked more on best teaching practices, maybe like grade levels gathering together. technology – the programs look neat.  pedagogy – did we do this?

How can you apply this to your classroom practice? Honestly I won’t.  Having the probes would be cool if I could pry the calculators from our math teachers…. but then again if you have calculators, you might not have (pretty sure we don’t) probes.  It all boils down to $$$$$!
